Applications

Applications are OPEN.

Characters that are apped until August 5th can be treated as belated arrivals from the ticket lottery mentioned above. Characters apped after that point will have to include a different reason for being on Isla Nublar in their app.

Before applying, please make sure you have read the Rules and FAQ thoroughly.
Applications will be checked as soon as possible after they are received. Please give us up to a week to get back to you.

OOC:

Player name: What you would like to go by.
Age: We need to know you're old enough to play here!
Personal journal: For reference.
Other contact info: How else can we get a hold of you?

IC:

Character name: Just who is it you're bringing to the game?
Canon: What series are they from?
Age: How old is your character? If no canon age is given, give us your best guess.
Sex/Gender: If your character identifies as something besides their sex assigned at birth, please put that instead.

Abilities & skills: What they're good at!

Personality: Please write at least a minimum of 250 words describing your character's personality traits. We don't need a full-on analysis, but we want to know what to expect from them. And if for example the way they act around people is vastly different from how they actually feel, we want to hear about both of these things.
This section is meant to be about how your character will act in the game, so it mostly refers to your character's AU self. However, if there is a necessity to make any significant changes from canon, please make note of it.

AU history: No need to get in-depth, but as this is an AU we need a basic rundown of your characters history.

Third or first person sample: Pick the one you like most. You are more than welcome to give us links as long as the thread in question is of a decent length. If we feel the sample given is too short, we might request an additional one.
If you don't put a link and instead write your own sample, please make sure it is long enough to judge your characters voice.

IC:

Character name: Teru Mikami
Canon: Death Note
Age: 27
Gender: Male

Abilities & skills:

Teru Mikami is an ordinary human, without any sort of exceptional talent. To be said about him is that he is intelligent. Not to the level of 'extraordinary genius' that is so common in his canon, but at least above the ordinary. He is also ambitious when it comes to studying, which makes him quite booksmart on a few selected topics. These being law, law and... everything law related.
Physically, he is strong but he's not a trained fighter. Mikami keeps his body healthy and trains so he is able to defend himself and others, but he does not have abilities in any specific kind of martial arts.
He is also surprisingly crafty. When he puts his mind to it he can replicate things like notebooks in great detail. Nobody really know why he can do that but apparently stuff like that is a common skill in DN.

Personality:
Teru Mikami sees the world in black and white. While for other people personal interests take up the majority of their attention, to Teru there is nothing more important than morals. To say he has a strong moral compass would be an understatement. In Mikami's eyes you are either good or bad and his world-view does not allow in-betweens. Once you have broken a law, once you have dirtied your hands with an unrighteous action, once you have harmed another person... you are completely beyond redeem. In his younger years Teru used to believe people could change, but in growing up he has lost this optimism completely. Once a sinner, always a sinner. There is no way to atone for past actions. The only exceptions to this rule are children. Teru is shown to try and correct their behaviour on occasion, but even here he would not be lenient toward misbehaviour for long.
For a law-abiding and order-loving person as Mikami it makes sense that he chose the profession of a prosecutor. To him it is much more than just his work; being a prosecutor is the purpose of his life. Teru practically defines his entire being as his profession. On earth, prosecutors are the ones with the power to bring criminals to justice, to protect society from evil influences. As such he is really dedicated and prioritizes work-related matters over everything - even his schedules, that he usually sticks to neurotically.
Obviously Teru is pro-death penalty. As he thinks criminals cannot be redeemed he also considers them to have lost their place in this world. Anything that is not useful to society or hindering a peaceful coexistence of people needs to be erased.

It is easy to fall unrighteous in Teru's eyes and it doesn't only happen to criminals. To Teru there is a slight difference between being directly and indirectly deserving of death. Criminals fall into the first category as they are the ones that can and will be hunted by the law. The second category mostly exists in his mind and labels the people Teru considers inappropriate and who he doesn't want to associate with. Being 'unrighteous' is easy. Slacking off and being a burden to the state is one stronger possibility, but even not helping someone when it is within your range of possibility can make you become 'unrighteous'. When it comes to this, Teru judges harsher the closer someone is to him and the better he knows them. His mother is a prime example. Only telling him to stop being so self-destructive for the sake of others was enough to make Mikami believe she did not share the 'right' mindset. The line between right and wrong is very thin and easy to step over, so Teru turns from most people. While he has no other choice but to tolerate those who aren't perfect society members, he certainly doesn't accept them. This of course makes him very distanced from ordinary humans who could not possibly fit his ideals. It results in Mikami having large difficulties with trust. Teru couldn't open up to a person who's unrighteous and as it is, the unrighteous waits behind every corner. There is nobody Teru could trust and open up to.

Those who Mikami can't accept have, of course, not done anything to be deserving of a trial, but yet Mikami feels the world would be better off without them. For this as well as for real crimes, there are divine punishments. While he does not have any particular religion to belong to, Mikami still is a religious fanatic. In his childhood it has happened several times that people who he deemed unacceptable died one way or another, which Teru took as a sign that a God of justice existed to pass judgement onto the 'bad ones'. This belief has been heavily strengthened by the death of his mother, shortly after he lost trust in her. It was both cold conviction and a way to cope with her passing.
If there was a theistic version of build-a-bear, Mikami would have made good use of it. This god passing judgement is nothing but his creation in the end. He is devoted to his god, but this complete devotion doesn't go without arrogance. Because most people Teru encountered in his life didn't share the 'right' mindset, he considers himself more worthy than others and even believes God has watched over him personally.
The only moral guideline Mikami believes in is his own, but he can't admit that to himself. Doing so would equal admitting all the deaths around him had really just been coincidence and there is no fundamental order in life. There would be no reason why his mother had to die and why Mikami needs to be alone. It would all just be chaos. Mikami needs order to function. Mikami needs approval. Mikami needs confirmation that what he's doing is the only 'correct' way. Life needs to be solvable like an equation. There can be no uncertainties left. This is why Mikami needs to put a god above himself. If there is a god who approves of him, then he doesn't need to face any consequences of his own thinking. If there is a god fitting exactly the ideals he's made up for himself, then that only validates that he has a right to isolate himself from all those he disapproves off. They are wrong. Mikami is right. And the simple fantasy concept of his god justifies it all.

If there ever was a God to fit these ideals, Mikami would worship him without question. Mikami would be the most devoted follower this God could ask for. But God would only be God for as long as he fits Mikami's ideals. His worship is not unconditional - he is all the God could wish for as long as the God is all Teru asks for in return.
In the universe of this game it's near impossible to happen, but it's noteworthy that the approval of a God could turn Mikami even more extreme than he already is. Mikami has the capacity of being entirely fanatic. In his normal state of mind, without any powerful approval, Mikami is not a dangerous person. Only if he found someone concrete he could follow, Mikami would become willing to sacrifice people for a greater good directly. Mikami is a disaster waiting to happen, a bomb that isn't activated. The way he is, he's only running himself into the ground, but given power he could be endangering the lives of many people in his attempt to eliminate all he deems wrong.

However, as much as Mikami is focused on the elimination of unrighteousness, he is also a selfless protector to those who are innocent. Mikami's protective side is doubtlessly also self-sacrificing. From childhood on he would take all physical abuse intended for other people in an attempt of shielding them. He has no sense of self-worth in this regard and will not retreat no matter what.

Despite his moral views mixing with religious terminology, Mikami is usually a very down-to-earth and logical person. His life is structured in all areas and he relies heavily on order. With this obsession he is far above ordinary levels. Mikami has a schedule for each day that he follows completely unchanging, regardless of holidays or other interruptions. The only thing he prioritizes higher is work. His return from the prosecution office is the only variable component in his every-day life. He's quite neurotic about things otherwise and a loss of order would completely throw him off. Even at home, all books in his shelves have the exact same size. Teru is the kind of person to have all his pencils the same length at all times. Further, he even goes as far as to separate work and private life by colors of clothes subconsciously - green-ish tones are for office hours and purple is for free-time.
To go with this compulsive behaviour, he also feels a strong need for cleanliness. It's as if actual sterility was a physical symbol for the dirt-less word he desires in the metaphorical sense. It's not far fetched to say that this is a neurosis as well, as it was even specifically pointed out when he was under surveillance in his original universe. Likely enough this partly has its origins in all of his childhood trauma. By keeping his body and surroundings clean he washes off all the bad that the bullies left on him both physically as in dirt and emotionally as in being looked down upon, having people be disgusted with him etc.

While these traits don't make Mikami unable to have a social life, private interactions with others are scarce. Mikami doesn't actually have much of a private life at all. His free time is mostly used for doing more work and work-related research. Aside from going to the gym to keep healthy, he doesn't seem to have anything close to a hobby. Neither does he appear to have many friends. His sole mentioned friend is a lady called Kiyomi Takada with whom he meets to discuss morals. (However, since this AU this friendship does not exist unless a potential Takada apps in and is alright with it.) He only connects to people intellectually, emotionally he is closed off. He's not interested in friendships, just in an exchange of thoughts. If he's lonely, he himself fails to realize it.

Mikami comes across as polite and smooth, but not exactly interesting. When he isn't talking about morals, he only says what is necessary and while he's rarely rude, he clearly shows no interest in more conversation than needed. When he is talking about morals, he seems much more focused and a bit of passion shows behind his determined speeches.
Teru rarely smiles and next to never laughs - except maybe when something good directly involving God happens.
He loses his polite ways only when talking to criminals. Then, while he still speaks eloquently, he gets directly insulting. They are the scum of society to him and he makes them feel it in an only slightly unprofessional way. (This applies to private situations, at work he remains mostly neutral as expected of him.)

AU history:
From early childhood on, Mikami is raised by his single mother. The whereabouts of his father remain unknown. Ever since he is little, Mikami has a strong sense of morals and high ambitions for himself and the people around him. From elementary school on he is consistently class rep at school and aims to get his class to the top of Japan.
In elementary school, Mikami also has to witness bullying for the first time. It goes entirely against what he believes in and he begins to fight back and protect the victims. Despite the fact that he gets himself beat up pretty bad, he continues to serve as a protector and receives the gratitude of the victims. This keeps him going. Eventually his elementary school class joins his side and the bullies get shunned and need to stop their wrong-doings.
Things don't continue to go as well in middle school and Teru goes from protector to bullying victim himself. Nobody is willing to do for him what he did for other victims before and he finds himself stuck in a world of bullies and bystanders.
As the bullying becomes more and more severe, his mother confronts him on it. She claims that he doesn't have to always take the bullet for someone else and be hurt this much. Teru can't understand her point of view as her attempt to protect him - he thinks she is wrong for not understanding the importance of acting righteous and going against evil. From then on, he distances himself from his mother entirely.
As he suffers more and more abuse from his classmates, Teru becomes more and more bitter a person. He begins to think that all evil needs punishment. While he previously was fine with forgiving and letting people change their ways, he now starts to think that the world would be better off when all evil people are permanently erased.
Just as these thoughts begin to form in his mind, an accident happens. Some of the bullies from his class get involved in a car crash and take one innocent person to their death with them - Teru's mother.
This is the turning point in his life - having lost the sole person he could somewhat rely on in his life, Mikami has to find a way to justify what happened to him. There is no way the world is such a chaotic and unfair place that would just let him suffer and suffer and take everything from him for no reason at all. So of course there is a reason. None of the people who died were righteous. So this is the punishment. Their deaths are part of a bigger plan.
To Teru that is the only thought that makes sense and he clings to it with all he has - it's the only thing that keeps him going. And he feels that he is validated in this belief. Again and again people he dislike die - which is actually not very hard because Mikami disapproves of almost everyone around him at that time. But he doesn't realize that. They obviously all deserve their death.
And the world keeps on smiling - nobody in his class missed those bullies much. The world is better off without evil. Evil people deserve to be eliminated.
This belief firmly etched into his mind, Mikami suffers through the rest of his school education and goes to college. He feels destined to become a prosecutor - if God punished criminals from above, a prosecutor is the closest a human can get to doing that. Rid a world of crime. With no social life or hobbies to speak off he aces his studies and soon gets to start the job of his dreams.
By now obsessive about the keeping of schedules, order and cleanliness in his life, Mikami moves into an apartment in Kyoto and lives the literal most boring life you could think off. He doesn't have any friends, he works excessively and he doesn't pay any attention to holidays in his keeping of schedule. That's all he does. That's literally all he does until he is 27, what do you expect me to write here. Why Mikami. Why.
Then he wins a ticket to Jurassic Park and he honestly doesn't feel like going, but the prosecution had their eyes on InGen for a while because suspiciously many Japanese companies invest in them for some sort of secret business. Mikami is ordered to semi-officially check that out if he already got a legal chance to go. Mikami is not very happy but he obeys and goes and then a lot of dinosaurs ruin his life.

Third or first person sample:

Mikami is not the kind of person who would visit an amusement park. He can vaguely understand why it's appealing to other people and he doesn't judge them much for it, but his own desire for entertainment is extraordinarily low. He doesn't really want to be here - it's far from home, far from the work that actually needs him. The work-related use of this half-vacation is questionable and Mikami doesn't think he can listen to any more of John Hammond praising himself. As soon as it's socially acceptable, he distances himself from the trip's opening party and heads for the Safari Lodge.

The entire set-up of this island is giving him a headache - cloning extinct creatures wasn't on the list of things he had considered possible before. It has nothing to do with him and he wants nothing to do with it. Riding a crowded train to work is more suitable for Mikami than flying towards adventure in a shaky helicopter.
The only thing he has left to do is to figure out whether or not investing in this project is legal and whether or not the project itself is conform to law. In his head, he goes over possible ways to press charges against both Hammond and the investors - there's complications with international law of course, but he'd check on that soon.
He stops short in front of the Lodge and looks around at the jungle of the island surrounding him. No, criminal court suits him better. He doesn't know the first and last thing about animals, let alone dinosaurs.
Three weeks normally go by fast, following schedule step by step, but here there is no normal schedule and the timespan never seemed as long before. Mikami sighs and steps inside to go up to his room. He hardly notices who he passes on the way upstairs but he gives a short not in greeting at each person. A dark figure with a dark expression, he seems entirely out of place between the safari patterns.

Have you read the Rules and FAQ? They are etched into the darkest corners of my brain, I wrote them and then I reread them approximately 80 times.

IC:

Character name: Kakeru Ryuugasaki
Canon: Cross Fight B-Daman / B-Daman Crossfire
Age: 11
Gender: Male

Abilities & skills:
As he's aimed to become an adventurer some of his training and knowledge may finally come to use:

- he doesn't do any sports in particular (except for B-Daman) but he's pretty fit
- he's very knowledgeable about ancient cultures and history and can even read several hieroglyphic scripts
- he doesn't know as much about dinosaurs as he knows about how not to die in mysterious temples but he can name a lot of them and distinguish carnivores from herbivores + he can tell you lots of trivia you won't need
- and last but not least he's very good at B-Daman which is a game about shooting marbles at targets. A B-Daman is not too powerful and can't cause much damage but being hit by a shot does hurt.

Personality:

Kakeru is an optimistic boy with a love for adventures and mysteries.
He's very honest and doesn't bother to hide his wide range of emotions. In most cases he's in a good mood but others don't have to worry not to notice if he's angry or sad either.

An immense fascination for mysteries is what drives most of his actions. He's excited to learn new things and wants to become an adventurer in the future for the sake of uncovering mysteries all around the world.
He trains a lot every day to be fit enough for ~dangerous quests~ and well... anything Indiana Jones-like. To acquire the knowledge needed for his dream he owns and borrows many books related to mysterious places and finds.
Besides these quite fantastic things he's also knowledgeable about the actual constructions used by ancient civilizations and their cultures, too. Other mysterious things may catch his attention but he doesn't think baseless rumours are worthy of being called mysteries.
When he's too engulfed in mysteries he has trouble paying attention to other, in that moment unimportant, things. He doesn't mean to be rude but when he's found a new book to read, for example, he doesn't notice that it might not be appropriate to do that at school and sometimes he's just too excited about his hobbies that he even forgets that he was talking to a friend a moment ago and simply ignores them.

He's easily overwhelmed he can't process lots of information at once. This leads to him noticing something, that would be obvious to others right away, days later and only then ask for further explanation. Because of this he comes off as slow or even stupid to many of his acquaintances. His honesty and naivety don't help correcting this impression, so he gets easily used by others. As long as it's just his friends making him do things he's not fully into he doesn't mind it much even though it bothers him a bit.
No one likes being treated like an idiot and Kakeru rightfully knows that he isn't one. He can spontaneously come up with creative ideas and strategies when needed and all the reading definitely wasn't in vain as he's even able to decipher several hieroglyphic scripts.

When he meets new people he's quite nervous and a bit hesitant at first but he's able to fit in a group of people very soon.
Kakeru isn't the kind of person to make fun of others or laugh at their misfortunes even if they're actually harmless. He knows what it's like to be clumsy and also wants to make sure that everyone is fine. He cares a lot about others; not only their physical well-being but that they're generally feeling comfortable and don't have to bottle up their thoughts and feelings. When having to make decisions in a group he tries to include everyone's opinions and find a compromise that everyone's okay with.
Making him really angry is not easy. Insulting him personally usually results in him being puzzled instead of angry because he wonders if something he's done caused you to be mean.
But as soon as you hurt his friends you've crossed the line. It's not like he'd start a physical fight but he'll call you out on your behaviour and want to make you apologize for what you've done. But he's still a kid after all. He has wanted to take revenge on someone before and wished their B-Daman would be hurt because that person had him break his own marble shooter earlier. Thanks to his friend Dracyan he realized that it feels much better when you just try having fun and become friends with others instead of damaging them.
Kakeru believes in people and trusts that they can change and realize that what they've done was wrong. If someone's betrayed him before he is a bit more cautious but still doesn't withhold any information the other could use and gives them the opportunity to confirm that they wouldn't take advantage of him again.

Domri Rade | Magic: the Gathering | Not Reserved

OOC:

Player name: Goggs
Age: over 20

Other contact info: [plurk.com profile] GoggleDragon

IC:

Character name: Domri Rade
Canon: Magic: the Gathering
Age: Unspecified, but I've been assuming 15ish
Gender: Male

Abilities & skills: First and foremost, Domri has an affinity for animals (to the point where his magic appears to involve nothing besides summoning, controlling, and enhancing them). How well this translates to interacting with dinosaurs in this AU is an open question, but considering what animals he uses in canon the odds probably aren't as terrible as one might assume. Physically, Domri's a twig and isn't strong at all. He's fast and agile though, using this skill to escape from trouble or squirm his way out of a tight spot (in the first version of his profile he's mentioned as being able to slip out of binding magic, so he has to be really good). He has excellent aim while throwing and seems to be fairly skilled at knife fighting. Mentally he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he's still pretty clever and resourceful, able to think on his feet and make a knife from a shard of glass and a stick. In this AU, his wilderness survival skills are at an even lower level than in canon due to different life experiences. He'll have a switchblade on him when he comes in.

Personality: Domri is rebellious and is distrustful of rules, hierarchies, and authority figures. He seems to be able to trust individual authority figures given time, such as his clan's shaman, but his interactions with them have the undertone of "I'm only doing what you say because I want to", though he never actually says so, likely because he would get his ass handed to him if he did. Perhaps more accurately he respects certain authority figures. He has an affinity for wild creatures, being the only allies he had when he was younger, and he seems to trust them easier, as the quote from him on the card Predator's Rapport implies: "Other guilds say the Gruul are savages, no better than the beasts we live with. I say we've found friends who won't stab us in the back." This further implies to me that at some point he may have been betrayed by a "civilized" person, but nothing about this is mentioned anywhere so it's just a theory. In any case, he doesn't dislike people or avoid being around them, simply not being completely open with them. Despite his love of animals and his environmentalist bent, he's not vegetarian and eats meat whenever he has a chance, seeing humans as being predatory animals too and thus feels it's natural to eat meat. In this AU this opinion is often a point of contention in the circles he hangs out in and sets him apart from the others, though not enough to ostracize him.

Domri doesn't like to show anything that could be construed as weakness: no fear, no self-doubt, and no emotional moments - grins and laughs are okay, hugging is not, although he did privately embrace the clan's shaman in relief that the man allowed him to become a full member of the clan even though his initiation wasn't done the normal way. He covers up his worries with bravado and redirects his fear into irritation. He's impulsive and reckless, rarely thinking things through deeply. He's quite capable of introspection and forming short-term plans, such as how to win the battle that's in front of him, but he gives little thought to how he'll win the war, living more for today than tomorrow. He likes breaking things made by civilization, whether throwing a stone through a stained-glass window to make cool-looking knives out of the shards or just wrecking the ruins even more. This isn't implied to be uncommon among Gruul; it's one of the things that he does when he hangs out with his friends, and the flavor text on various cards references that trait amongst other members of the clans. Domri's described as finding the sound of the aforementioned stained-glass window breaking to be "sublime", which seems to be in line with the opinions of other Gruul.

Because of his different life experiences in this AU, he doesn't as strong of a desire to prove himself that he has in canon, nor does he have the self-esteem issues he does in canon; being told that he wouldn't amount to anything if he didn't do well in school, go to college, and get a good job isn't the same as being the runt in a clan of muscular barbarians, since one of those groups he actually wants to be a part of. Still, he does have a level of "I'll prove you wrong" in response to people telling him that he can't continue to live the life he is forever, or really when anyone tells him he can't do something. He does have the desire for adventure and new experiences, but this is mainly from his own desire to have a good time, not because he feels the need to show he's as good as everyone else; the subculture he's found in this AU is fine with who he is overall and he naturally falls in line with most of their beliefs.

AU history: Domri was born in a large American city and was orphaned at a young age when his parents died in a car accident. He was too young to remember much about them and has grown up treating his lack of parents as being normal and something that he rarely thinks about. He's bounced between foster homes and the street for most of his life, via foster parents getting fed up with him and sending him to someone else or him running away when he got fed up with all the restrictions put on his life. Sleeping in parks and alleys brought him in contact with various animals, and he discovered his affinity for them, since they were often his only companions early on. As he became more familiar with life on the streets and the subcultures in the city, he eventually fell in with the punk scene, resulting in his current look: mohawk, piercings, facial and body tattoos, and patched and spiked clothes. During the times when he was actually going to school a few teachers noticed his love for animals and tried to encourage him in that direction with books and other media. While it did get him to become a better reader and learn more about animals, Domri isn't one for intellectual pursuits and he was more interested in learning about animals by interacting with them directly, giving him no reason to care about school. Warnings about how he'd never amount to anything if he didn't do well in school, go to college, and get a good job fell on deaf ears; he enjoys the life he has, preferring the freedom of streets and squats despite the challenges that lifestyle comes with.

At the time that he received his invitation, he was in a foster home that he wanted out of. His plan in coming to Jurassic Park was to have a good time for as long as he could, then go back on a different plane and find some new part of the world to live in. Because of this he packed more than what he'd need for the trip (winter clothing, for example), but since he tends to travel light and doesn't have too many possessions he actually cares about the net result isn't gamebreaking.

Third or first person sample: Copied from a previous app I wrote, but his personality's still the same:

[The video comes on to Domri twirling a Jenny's hat on his finger.]

No lawmages, no swords, not even any armor! How can they expect anyone to follow their stupid rules if they can't make people listen to them? All they have to fight people with is a dog! The dog looked like it had some fight in it, but all it took was Fleshripper spraying water in its face and it went down! [He forces himself to continue through his laughter, a proud "gatr!" in the background.] And then Fleshripper sprayed the Arrester, too! You should have seen her face when it happened! [There's another proud "gatr!" in the background. Domri grins and moves the camera to show a Feraligatr standing with its arms crossed over its chest, giving its best attempt at a smirk.] Oh right, Fleshripper evolved yesterday. He and Rubbleback were trying to see who could make the bigger hole in a building in one hit. Rubbleback was winning when-

Stop right there, young man! [The camera swings around to show a sideways view of a wet, hatless Officer Jenny and her equally wet and rather irritated Growlithe running towards them, two other officers in tow.] You're under arrest for destruction of property, assault on- ah! [A Water Gun comes from off-camera and the Jennies dive aside, although one of the dry ones fails to dodge and goes down in a torrent of water. Before anything else can be seen, the camera begins to swing around wildly as Domri starts running.] Get back here! Stop in the name of the law!

Keep your laws to yourself! [Domri sounds likes he's enjoying this.] I don't want them!

IC:

Character name: Luna Lovegood
Canon: Harry Potter
Age: Fifteen
Gender: Female

Abilities & skills: Intelligence and perception. Luna is considered a genius by her peers, as well as her school.
She can easily sense when there's ill will in the air, and tries her best to alleviate it. Outside of this, she is a typical teen girl with no special skills.

Personality: Mysterious and quirky to say the least, Luna finds fascination in the strangest things. She believes in oddities not yet seen, or ever seen, including dinosaurs -- which her peers make fun of her for. She also regularly believes every conspiracy theory she reads and sees, and takes it as concrete facts.

Her "friends" dubbed her Loony Lovegood, due to her belief of aliens, Yeti, and the Lochness Monster. Despite being made fun of however, she's still very vocal, talking with people often and being very protective and loyal to them when they're made fun of.
Very little ticks her off, and she's incredibly easy going. (One has to be to be made fun of so often!) She's almost never stressed or upset, even through the worst. Above all however, she values intelligence; being an intelligent girl herself, she has no tolerance for stupidity.

Her method of dress is a bit unorthodox, wearing raddish earrings and corkscrew necklaces. The only normal clothing items she owns seems to be her school uniform, as well as a few basic pieces she regularly embellishes.

AU history: Luna was born off the coast of England, to a homemaker and a newspaper owner. Her mother passed away when she was young, leaving her father Xenophilius to take care of her. Through testing, she was discovered to be almost genius-like, and thus was accepted into a private boarding school in Northern England.

With her father being the famous editor of a weekly rag (think National Enquirer!); the two embarked on a cruise throughout the world one fine summer. However, when the ship crash landed on the island, they decided it best to try and find shelter, and help. But her father disappeared in the forests, leaving Luna all alone to fend for herself and to find him.

Third or first person sample: Third.
Luna sighed as she watched her surroundings. Everybody around her was acting so dreadfully, talking about stupid things like celebrities and music. She opened up the most recent issue of the newspaper her father waas the head of, paying no mind to the voices around her.
"All that stuff in there is rubbish!" one person called out. Her only response was to flip to the next page, which featured a column on Nessie sightings. As she leaned in closer to read, someone plucked the paper out of her hands.
"You could have asked when I was done," she said in a murmur. Daddy always taught her not to raise her voice, even when upset. "I would have gladly given you the paper."
"Do you believe this shit, Loony?"
"But yes, of course," came her response. "There is no proof against it, so all is believable."
"You're not a kid, this isn't the Tooth Fairy. No animal like this exists."
A sly smile crossed Luna's lips as she simply said in reply, "and how do you know? Are you a mammalogist?" The boy seemed stunned by her response, and decided it best to drop the paper and stumble away for the moment. Triumphantly, she turned back to her stories, happy that once again nobody could disprove her feelings.
