Applications
Before applying, please make sure you have read the Rules and FAQ thoroughly.
Applications will be checked as soon as possible after they are received. Please give us up to a week to get back to you.
OOC:
Player name: What you would like to go by.
Age: We need to know you're old enough to play here!
Personal journal: For reference.
Other contact info: How else can we get a hold of you?
IC:
Character name: Just who is it you're bringing to the game?
Canon: What series are they from?
Age: How old is your character? If no canon age is given, give us your best guess.
Sex/Gender: If your character identifies as something besides their sex assigned at birth, please put that instead.
Abilities & skills: What they're good at!
Personality: Please write at least a minimum of 250 words describing your character's personality traits. We don't need a full-on analysis, but we want to know what to expect from them. And if for example the way they act around people is vastly different from how they actually feel, we want to hear about both of these things.
This section is meant to be about how your character will act in the game, so it mostly refers to your character's AU self. However, if there is a necessity to make any significant changes from canon, please make note of it.
AU history: No need to get in-depth, but as this is an AU we need a basic rundown of your characters history.
Third or first person sample: Pick the one you like most. You are more than welcome to give us links as long as the thread in question is of a decent length. If we feel the sample given is too short, we might request an additional one.
If you don't put a link and instead write your own sample, please make sure it is long enough to judge your characters voice.
Revision Request
Your personality description is conclusive so far, but we feel like there is more potential to go in-depth about Sally. We want to hear a little more about what makes her tick, for example what her motivations are, what inspires her to do what she's doing in life and with her job....
You have until the 19th to comment your revised personality section here. We look forward to seeing it. Thank you for your application!
Personality revision, I hope this will do.
Sally is polite and well-spoken, as well as compassionate and empathetic. Sometimes a little too empathetic - her job as a criminal court judge can be difficult to stomach on some days, as she doesn't like blood or violence, and she is required to be objective; even violent criminals have their side to the story. But what ultimately pushes her through it is knowing that she is helping people. Just one 'thank you' from someone for putting their attacker in prison is enough to make the hardship worth it.
Outside of the courtroom, Sally is fairly introverted, completely content with spending the night quietly by herself or with her fiance Robert with a good book. But when she's with company she is friendly and has a good sense of humor, and even a slight mischievous side; naughty jokes are common on a girls' night out. However she may pass the time however, it can be difficult for her to turn her work brain off, as it were, and conversation about a case from that morning or rambling about the work she has to do when she gets home can sometimes take over her mouth.
If one were to ask why she ended up settling with Rob, she wouldn't really have an answer for you except that it 'just sort of happened.' It may have been a case of opposites attracting; while Sally is so goal-oriented and focused primarily on accomplishments, Rob is more about balancing work and play. He often pulls Sally away from work when she's burning herself out or not taking care of herself, yet at the same time he encourages everything she does, and on days when the job is especially harrowing, he's the one who pushes her forward and reminds her why she went into it. They are not entirely unalike of course; Rob has his own goals that he strives for, albeit ones that need time and energy he wants to be sure he has first, and his own nurturing nature can sometimes gets him carrying too much on his shoulders himself.
Tragically, Sally currently suffers from post-traumatic stress due to a terrorist attack she was caught in the middle of. Her work has since been exceedingly stressful and triggered several panic attacks, especially violent cases, sometimes even trials against the perpetrators of the attacks, and her inability to cope or even concentrate has deemed her mentally unfit to work until further notice. Unfortunately, the treatment may be worse than the sickness in this regard; being out of work has shattered her confidence - if she can't do what she loves anymore, then what is she supposed to do? - and without her job to give her focus, anxiety and flashbacks to the event are more common as her mind wanders. She's found herself relying on Rob more than either of them could foresee, be it talking her through a panic attack or simply offering a shoulder to lean on. Since Sally was so self-reliant before, this is extremely frustrating for her and she tends to feel helpless, yet at the same time she's extremely grateful that she has him to help her.
Accepted!
